“I am a mom of a Marine. A mom of a Marine becomes a mother of  many Marines. Dayton was another son, not just another Marine to  me. The 1441 Foundation is dear to my heart. I would do any and all  things possible to save a life from suicide, and this foundation works tirelessly to do that and more. I love the people who formed 1441 and  would do anything to be a part of it.”

“Do you often hear people say that people are brought into your lives exactly when you need them the most? But the timing is perfect, the plan is in place and the path is laid. I met with the Hornickel family for the first time in May 2022. I was to meet  them and discuss plans for a golf outing to honor their late son/brother Dayton. I had no idea that this day would bench mark such a profound day in my life as an ambassador for Mission22.  I was beyond humbled by the welcome this family extended to me in their time of tragedy with the only intentions being to help others to not feel the pain of such an epic loss like theirs. Their courage and determination to continue Dayton’s legacy and to help others to find it in themselves to “not give up“  was something I knew would touch more people than they could ever imagine. I have been honored to stand shoulder to shoulder with this family and their mission and I fully support their cause. I  think some people believe when one passes on it means that their mission on earth is over, however they couldn’t be more  incorrect, Dayton is changing more lives than I believe he ever thought. He is remembered, he is loved and he is filling the  world with a rainbow of color that I could only hope you are  lucky enough to see and feel. Don’t think of him as gone away,  his journeys’ just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is  only one.”

“I am actually not sure when I met Bob, all that I am certain of is that  we share a love for our corps and our community. And as I had lost  people to the 22 a day, Dayton brought it home for me. 1 a day is too  many and the 1441 Foundation is fighting that locally and the money  is 1:1. The Hornickel’s are family. “I wasn’t fortunate enough to know Dayton personally, but as a  fellow law enforcement family, and certainly as a parent, I grieved  alongside his family. My husband works with Dayton’s father, Bobby,  and we’ll be forever moved by his loss. He was committed to helping  the 1441 Foundation in any way he could, and I was honored that he  wanted me to help too. I’ve never seen a community rally around a  cause with such enthusiasm before. Monetary donations, raffle  items, and volunteers were overflowing. The golf outing that the  1441 Foundation organized ended up being such a wonderful  experience for everyone involved. I cannot think of a better way to  remember Dayton. And I pray his memory lives on and is a  testimony to save many lives.”

“You guys raised  almost $14,000! That is huge! The whole team was impressed. I  also have shared with them how you and Kelly connected and  how much your family appreciates her. Everyone was of  course very touched and so grateful for Kelly’s role on our  team after hearing that. Your family is doing a beautiful job  honoring Dayton and your dad both. I can’t imagine how hard  it is to move forward, but just from our emails and Kelly’s feedback, we all see you doing it with very graceful and dedicated hearts...Your baby boy will absolutely live on forever, and all the people whose lives your family changes and saves  is a testament to that."
